What happened?
On June 16, 2026, Jehoshaphat Research published a report alleging, among other things, that Gildan has been stuffing the channel to make revenues look like they’re growing, which has been cannibalizing future demand and inflating the overall growth trajectory of the business, obscured by financial engineering, and that the Company transfers almost half its receivables off-balance sheet. The report alleged distributors were holding approximately $510 million in excess inventory.
On this news, Gildan’s stock price fell $11.62, or 18.8%, to close at $50.35 per share on June 16, 2026, thereby injuring investors.
What is the Gildan Activewear Inc. lawsuit about?
The Gildan Activewear Inc. class action alleges that, throughout the class period, defendants made materially false and/or misleading statements and failed to disclose material adverse facts about Gildan Activewear Inc.’s business, operations, and prospects. Specifically, the complaint alleges defendants failed to disclose to investors that: (1) Gildan did not have adequate internal controls; (2) Gildan used channel stuffing to create an appearance of revenue; and (3) as a result, defendants’ positive statements about Gildan Activewear Inc.’s business, operations, and prospects were materially misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis at all relevant times.
Investors who purchased or otherwise acquired Gildan Activewear Inc. securities during the class period may ask the Court, no later than December 14, 2026, to appoint them lead plaintiff in this putative class action lawsuit.
“According to the complaint filed against Gildan Activewear Inc., the Company, among other things, did not disclose that Gildan did not have adequate internal controls. With the December 14, 2026 deadline drawing near, investors who want a voice in how this case is led should reach out now,” said Frank R. Cruz of The Law Offices of Frank R. Cruz.
