The North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to facilitate the transition to natural refrigerants, has opened registration for five Natural Refrigerant Training Events through R-TRADE, NASRC’s nationwide workforce development initiative.
The free events will provide practical, expert-led training for refrigeration technicians at every level of experience with CO2 and propane technologies. Programming includes concurrent classroom sessions, hands-on learning with equipment, an exhibit hall, and networking opportunities.
2026–27 R-TRADE Natural Refrigerant Training Events
- Stockton, California: Workshop, December 2–3, 2026
- Miami, Florida: Summit, February 9–10, 2027
- Atlanta, Georgia: Summit, March 24–25, 2027
- Irwindale, California: Summit, April 20–22, 2027
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Summit, June 22–24, 2027
“The transition to natural refrigerants depends on a workforce prepared to install, service and maintain these evolving systems,” said Danielle Wright, NASRC executive director. “Through R-TRADE, NASRC is expanding access to practical training that helps technicians build proficiency with natural refrigerant technologies and prepares them for success as the industry changes.”
The series will focus on strengthening technician proficiency in regions where CO2 adoption is growing, including the Southeast, while advancing technical content in markets where CO2 systems are well established. Irwindale and Pittsburgh will emphasize CO2 controls, while Stockton will focus on full-system integration and troubleshooting. Pittsburgh will also offer a dedicated CO2 fundamentals track for retailers and end users, expanding support for those operating and maintaining these systems.
The 2026–27 season is free thanks to the generous support of Premier sponsors. The Stockton and Irwindale events are supported by funding from the California Air Resources Board’s F-gas Reduction Incentive Program (FRIP) Workforce Development program.
